URGENT: SB 81 to cut Charter School funding
There is a bill pending today in the legislature that is called SB81 and it is moving FAST. It is $42 per student mid-year cut to every charter school’s 2011-12 budget. This cut would impact your student’s charter school funding NOW.

Loss of a Friend to Altus Schools - Tribute
It is with the greatest sadness that I must report to you that David Nuffer passed away on February 3, 2011. David Nuffer, both a professional colleague and a close, personal friend began working with the Altus Schools in 1995. He functioned primarily as an Executive Advisor to me and as one of the Leads for the Altus CEO Council. David was currently a Board member on the Audeo Charter School Board of Directors.
Mary Searcy Bixby receives Remarkable Leaders in Education honor
Mary Searcy Bixby, Altus Institute’s Founder, President and CEO, was recently recognized as a 2010 Remarkable Leaders in Education Honoree.

This distinction, given by the University of San Diego’s School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES), is an annual opportunity to honor legendary contributions to the field of education made by educators from San Diego and Imperial counties.

Altus Institute's Founder, President, & CEO Mary Searcy Bixby wins 2009 "Women Who Mean Business" Award
Altus Institute's Founder, President, & CEO Mary Searcy Bixby received the 2009 "Women Who Mean Business" Award from the San Diego Business Journal. Alongside other prestigious recipients, Mary was chosen from 167 nominees for this honor recognizing local women for their outstanding contributions to business, the government, and the San Diego community. This is the San Diego Business Journal's 16th year presenting these awards. The award was given at a banquet presentation Tuesday, October 27th, where former eBay President & CEO and California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman gave the keynote address.
